Theatre Harrisburg began in February 1926, created in the basement of the public library by ten women from the local Women’s University Club who believed Harrisburg needed a community-run theatre. Over the years, the company moved through various temporary venues — downtown halls, schools, and shared spaces — until it finally built a permanent home in 1952 at Sixth & Hurlock Streets.
